WHO WE ARE

In today's society, the disconnect between people and nature seems to be clearer and bigger than ever. Connected Planet Foundation was set up to address this ever-growing disconnect. If we want people to protect the natural world, then we need people to connect to it.

Our goal is to build that connection by providing a range of different experiences and opportunities that will not only connect people to the planet, but to themselves and each other. Happy people for a happy planet.

We believe everyone has the right to connect with the natural world around them, whatever their background. For too long communities around the world have been excluded from 'conservation areas' to make way for expensive safari experiences for people across the globe. Communities that border places like the the Kruger National Park having never seen the wonders on the other side of the fence. We aim to change that.

As well as community conservation events here in the UK, we also sponsor conservation field trips for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, who wouldn't otherwise have the chance. Giving them the opportunity to experience the wonders of the natural world, as well as giving them a platform to help protect it.

Our planet needs a generation of young heroes to stand up for it and to help save it. We aim to find and empower those heroes.

Meet the Team

The team at Connected Planet Foundation all work on a voluntary basis and are highly dedicated to conserving the planet and connecting communities to nature. Without their commitment, Connected Planet wouldn't be able to function. We are excited to watch our team continue to grow.

Co-founder

Phoebe Kavanagh

Phoebe is a paediatric Occupational Therapist who loves helping - whether that be people or animals. She has experience working at both rhino and orangutan orphanages, as well as several community conservation projects, supporting conservation from the ground up.

Chair and co-founder

Dermot Kavanagh

Dermot was an army reservist for four years and is now a personal trainer. After having the opportunity to train anti-poaching units in South Africa, he has now dedicated himself to community conservation and believes everyone should benefit from nature. He is a huge wildlife lover.

Macdonald Chirara

Macdonald is a social entrepreneur from Zimbabwe whose work focuses on creating green communities through innovative renewable energy solutions.He is founder of Everlast Technology and has received many awards for his work. He is currently studying biology at Colgate University. He is passionate about conservation.

Environmental Educator

Sopia Luka

Luka is a highly knowledgeable and passionate wildlife guide based in the Mara Region of Kenya. He has been delivering high quality environmental education lessons at Semadep School and is now helping us to expand the programme across the region.

Environmental Educator

Kevin Morgan

Kevin is our new environmental educator in the UK. He has 25 years of experience in conservation management and education working for both the Royal Parks and the National Trust as a Park Ranger. He is a passionate conservationist and is now a trained bushcraft facilitator . He is a fantastic asset to the team.

Digital Marketing

Anthony Campanale

Anthony has been an IT Professional for over 35 years with over 15 years experience as a digital marketer. He is passionate about nature, wildlife, the outdoors and maintaining our planet for future generations. He will be helping us to grow the charity digitally with his vast knowledge and passion for our planet!
