About the event

We are teaming up with the amazing Citizen Zoo as part of their Get InVOLEd Water Vole Reintroduction project. On Saturday November 20th we will be building a dead hedge along the Hogsmill River in an area close to the reintroduction site. The idea behind the dead hedge is to create a wildlife-friendly barrier between the path that runs parallel to the river and the banks. This is to stop both people and dogs accessing key parts of habitat for water voles. The hedge itself will also provide an excellent habitat for birds, invertebrates and fungi. We hope the hedge will also act as a good engagement point, as we plan to include signage to flag issues associated with dogs and waterbodies. This includes trampling of vegetation and impacts on invertebrates from flea treatments entering the water.

This is a free, family-friendly event and a great way to support the rewilding of urban areas which inturn promotes happy and healthy ecosystems. Rewilding is a vital way to allow biodiversity to flourish and goes along way towards reversing the effects of devestating climate change. Sign up and be part of the effort to rewild Britain.

We will be meeting by the green bridge on Green Lane. There is street parking available on Elmbridge Avenue, the K2 bus stop one minute away and Berrylands train station a five minute walk away.

We hope to see you there.
